Arne Skauge

Arne Skauge (born January 27, 1948 in Bergen , Fylke Hordaland ) is a Norwegian bank manager and politician at Høyre , who was a member of the Storting for 16 years and was Minister of Commerce between 1981 and 1983 and Minister of Finance for a short time in the government of Prime Minister Kåre Willoch in 1986 . He later held the post of finance minister again from 1989 to 1990 in the government of Prime Minister Jan P. Syse .

Life

Studies, local politician and member of Storting

After attending school in 1966, Skauge began studying economics at the Norwegian Business School NHH (Norges Handelshøyskole) , which he graduated in 1971. From 1971 to 1976 he was a consultant to the planning office Asplan Viak AS and then from 1976 to 1978 head of the personnel office in Bergen.

His political career began Skauge, who joined the youth organization of the Høyre ( Unge Høyre ) and the party in Bergen during his studies in the 1960s , in local politics when he joined the Bergen City Council in 1972 and was a member of it until 1977. He was also a member of the board of Høyre in Bergen between 1970 and 1993 and chairman of Høyre in Fylke Hordaland between 1976 and 1977.

After he was initially elected vice-member in the election of September 10, 1973 , Skauge was elected for the first time as a member of the Storting in the election of September 12, 1977 and represented the Storting for 16 years until the election on September 13, 1993 Interests of Hordaland.

On October 16, 1989, Skauge again took over the office of finance minister in the minority government from Prime Minister Jan P. Syse and held this ministerial office until the end of Syse's term on November 3, 1990.

After leaving Storting, Skauge became department and group director of Den norske Bank (DnB) in 1993 and held this position until 1998. Subsequently, between 1998 and 1999 he was initially the administrative director of the Norwegian banking association (Den norske Bankforening) , before he was then from 2000 to 2010 administrative director of the main organization of the financial services institutions FNH (Finansnæringens Hovedorganisasjon) , which resulted from a merger of Den norske Bankforening and the Norwegian insurance association ( Norges Forsikringsforbund) . Subsequently, between 2010 and 2011, he was the administrative director of Finans Norge , which in turn emerged from a merger between FNH and the Association of Sparbanks (Sparebankforeningen i Norge) .
