T (h) alheimer meeting

The T (h) alheimer Treffen is a loose association of places with the names " Talheim ", " Thalheim ", " Dalheim " or " Dahlheim " mainly from Germany , Austria and Switzerland . From over 30 well-known cities and communities with corresponding names, up to 20 take part in the annual international meetings, which take place alternately in a different community.
In addition to the annual political meeting, a football tournament with the title "International T (h) alheimertreffen" takes place every two years as a sporting counterpart.
Emergence
The tradition of the T (h) alheim meeting began in the 1950s. Since postcodes had not yet been introduced, letters were often delivered incorrectly to the “wrong” one of the numerous towns with the name “Talheim”, particularly in Baden-Württemberg.
The personal contact between the mayors of Talheim near Heilbronn and Talheim in the Tübingen district (later incorporated into Mössingen) turned into contact between the communities, and after a singers' meeting in Thalheim in Aargau in Switzerland, the idea of a regular T (h) alheim meeting took shape on. The first meeting took place in Talheim near Heilbronn. Municipalities from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and, since 2005, Romania ( Daia in Transylvania) take part.
The host community introduces itself at the meeting. There are local political meetings as well as folk evenings , music performances and church services.
