The gymnastics and sports club Berchtesgaden (TSV Berchtesgaden) is a Bavarian sports club with currently 15 departments in Berchtesgaden . The club recently achieved its greatest successes with the wrestling department , which was also represented in the 2nd wrestling league for 25 years and, in 1980, Josef Sunkler was the junior wrestler world champion .
history
On June 2, 1883, the gymnastics and sports club Berchtesgaden was founded. His first "summer gymnasium" was made available to him by the Berchtesgadener Schützengesellschaft at the shooting range , and from 1886 the municipality of Berchtesgaden gave him the lower rooms of the school building in the market as a "winter gymnastics area". The flag consecration was celebrated on July 29, 1889.
On September 26, 1920 the first national sports festival took place in Berchtesgaden, and on November 12, 1920 the gymnasium was relocated to the Breitwiese not far from the salt mine , which in 1937 was and still was expanded into a modern sports facility with a swimming pool and grandstands is used today by TSV Berchtesgaden, among others.
The first sports hall in Berchtesgaden was built between 1924 and 1925 on Bahnhofstrasse, which was only replaced in 1966 by the construction of two new sports halls, not least also used for school sports, right next to the sports field on Breitwiese.
On November 19, 1945, the first football game after the Second World War was played in Berchtesgaden with the participation of the TSV . Officially re-approved by the American occupation forces on September 21, 1946, the 1st team of the TSV then played continuously in the A-class until 1962, after which they switched to the B-class (1967 and 1977 champions B-class) Then in 2003 to move up to the district league (2012 champion district class as well as 2008, 2015 and 2018 win of the Berchtesgadener Anzeiger Cup ). A long-time head of the football department was the former luge racer Max Leo (1941–2012).
From the promotion in the 1974/75 season to the then Regional League (group south), which was renamed the 2nd Ringer Bundesliga from the 1978/79 season , the wrestling department of TSV Berchtesgaden remained a total of 25 until the 1998/99 season Years in the 2nd Wrestling League, even became second division champion of the season south at the end of the 1992/93 season and during that time also had two German junior champions (1979, 1982) and one junior wrestler vice world champion (1980).
