Tad Mosel

George Ault "Tad" Mosel Jr. (born May 1, 1922 in Steubenville , Ohio , † August 24, 2008 in Concord , New Hampshire ) was an American screenwriter and playwright , who in 1961 for the play All the Way Home , one adaptation of the 1958 posthumously with the Pulitzer prize for novels excellent autobiographical novel A Death in the Family by James Agee , the Pulitzer prize for drama was honored.

Life

Mosel wrote his first play The Happiest Years in 1942 and began writing as a screenwriter in the mid-1950s. He first wrote the scripts and templates for television shows and series such as Playhouse 90 and Armchair Theater and thus belonged to the series of well-known screenwriters such as Paddy Chayefsky , Gore Vidal and Rod Serling .

For his play All the Way Home , a literary adaptation of the 1958 posthumously Pulitzer Prize for novels novel A Death in the Family by James Agee, he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for theater in 1961 and was also nominated for the Tony Award for best play .
