The Tannschorrenbach is a brook in the district of Tannheim in the Baden-Württemberg district of Biberach in Upper Swabia . It rises in a wooded area called Tannenschorren and flows into the Tannenschorren pond after about 500 meters. About three hundred meters below the outflow of the stream from the Tannenschorrenweiher, it receives its main inflow from the sources of the Wolfsloch . Then it flows through the community above and below ground and flows into the Illerkanal after about four kilometers . In 2011, one liter per second of its water was taken for the local drinking water supply . With that he contributes twenty percent for the local drinking water supply. Its average discharge , measured over a normal year, is thirty-five liters per second.

The headwaters of the Tannschorrenbach are located at Wolfsloch , above the Tannschorrenweiher , in the woods called Langer Ghau and Tannschorren at 630  m above sea level. NN m. The Tannschorrenweiher, which dams the Tannschorrenbach, is owned by the former imperial count house of Schaesberg . The Tannschorrenbach continues to a pumping station at the water tower in the Horn forest area.

The local fools guild “Daaschora Weibla” derives its name from the brook.

Mühlebach

The Mühlebach, a branch of the Tannschorrenbach, reaches the Obere Mühle after half a kilometer via a hillside mill channel . Five hundred meters below is the Lower Mill . Both mills are among the 100 or so mills on Mühlenstraße Oberschwaben . The Obere Mühle appears in 1529 in the directory of the former imperial abbey of the Benedictine monastery of Ochsenhausen as the second grinding mill. The lower mill , also known as the St. Benignus grain mill, is the only active water-wheel drive grain mill in the Biberach district . On a normal day, the mill can produce thirty-five liters of water per second.

The Tannschorrenbach, which is reunited with the Mühlebach, is guided there over an overshot iron wheel with a diameter of 7 m from 1884. The stream flows into a small pond called Brühl on the northern outskirts of Tannheim. From there the stream is directed to the community's sewage treatment plant at the Illerkraftwerk II and then flows into the Illerkanal.

In 2010 the municipality took one liter of water per second from the spring water of the brook for the local water supply. With this amount the brook covered a fifth of the water supply of the municipality of Tannheim. The rest of the water, the groundwater of the Iller, comes from the pumping station on the Opfinger Stock in the Illertal. In 2010 the municipal council rejected a request from the mayor to increase the withdrawal rate to eight liters per second for the municipal water supply. The municipality is not a member of the Illertal Water Supply Association (ZVI).
