Tatiana Sais
Tatjana Sais (born January 28, 1910 in Frankfurt am Main ; † February 26, 1981 in Berlin ), née Hofler , was a German cabaret artist , actress and voice actress .
Childhood and youth
Tatjana Sais performed in the ballet of the Frankfurt Opera when she was a child . After graduating from school, she also took singing and acting lessons from 1928 to 1930 and received her first stage engagement in Frankfurt-Höchst. After moving to Berlin, from 1931 she performed at various Berlin theaters (including the Hebbel Theater , Schillertheater ) on various cabaret stages.

In 1932 she played alongside Werner Finck in the program of the political-literary cabaret Die Katakombe . There she met the cabaret artist Günter Neumann , whom she married in 1938. Together with Neumann and Bruno Fritz , Tatjana Sais founded the Tatzelwurm cabaret after the catacomb was banned . In addition, she performed numerous cabaret programs on other cabaret stages, including a. the comedians ' cabaret .
1948 she was with her husband of the founding members of the post-war cabarets, the RIAS telecast The islanders - one based on the lyrics and melodies of Günter Neumann cabaret response of West Berlin to the blockade by the Soviets was (the first islanders broadcast Christmas 1948 ). Hans Rosenthal produced an Insulaner program for the television of North German Radio . Tatjana Sais worked with the islanders until the program was discontinued in 1964.
Movie and TV
From 1936 Tatjana Sais regularly took on roles in film and television productions. She played u. a. in Willi Forst's Bel Ami (1939), in Robert A. Stemmle's Berlin Ballade (for which Günter Neumann wrote the screenplay), in Kurt Hoffmann's fantastic comedy Der Engel, who moved his harp , in the satire Wir Wunderkinder (based on Hugo Hartung ), next to Lilo Pulver in Glorious Times in the Spessart and the Curt Goetz - Remakes Hocus-Pocus or: How do I make my husband disappear ...? and Dr. med. Job Prätorius (each with Heinz Rühmann in the leading role).
Among other things, she also played a supporting role in the anti-Semitic film Robert and Bertram (1939) as the daughter of the Jewish banker Ipplmeyer and said in the Tobis press booklet :
- “It is a delicate feeling to enter the public consciousness as a Jewish girl. I realized this from the horrified looks with which the many visitors looked at us during the shooting. We really looked like the real mixed poke . "
Robert and Bertram is the only anti-Semitic Nazi film that turns out to be a comedy.
The quote documents the entanglement of “non-political” artists and actors in the mentality of the Nazi state - regardless of the high merits they earned in the post-war period.
She was also a member of the feature film jury of the first Berlinale .
Radio and synchronization
In addition, Tatjana Sais has loaned numerous radio play productions to the NWDR (e.g. in the title role of William Shakespeare's Antonius and Cleopatra ) and RIAS Berlin (e.g. in the title role in Miss Caroline by Heinz Coubier ) and as a voice actress since the 1940s Fellow actors like Miriam Hopkins ( The Heiress ) , Elsa Lanchester ( The Pirate Bride , Revolver Lady ) and Maureen O'Sullivan ( Playing With Death ) .
Tatjana Sais also recorded various records with chansons , including the chanson cycle “Die Dame von heute” composed by Günter Neumann.
Private
After divorcing Günter Neumann, Tatjana Sais married the British journalist Sir Hugh Carleton Greene , Director General of the BBC and co-founder of the NWDR , with whom she spent the last years of her life in London. Tatjana Sais died on February 26, 1981 at the age of 71 in Berlin. She was buried in Berlin-Westend in the grave of her first husband, Günter Neumann , in Kirchhof III of the Luisen Community , Fürstenbrunner Weg 37-67.
