occupation

One vodka too much is a television film from the crime series Tatort on ARD and ORF . The film was produced by Norddeutscher Rundfunk and broadcast for the first time on March 6, 1994. It is about the crime scene episode 288. For the detective chief inspector Paul Stoever ( Manfred Krug ) it is the 21st case. For his colleague Peter Brockmöller ( Charles Brauer ) it is the 18th case in which he is investigating.

action

A homeless person unintentionally witnesses a murder. He watches as two Russians strangle a man with a wire sling on a construction site in the middle of the night and calls the police. First of all, Stoever and Brockmöller visit the company "Petrimex", to which the construction site belongs. You learn from company owner Nikita Gurganov that the deceased was employed by him. Therefore, they can find out the name and address of the victim and look around their home. Stoever discovers a Russian police badge, which leads Brockmöller to suspect that the victim might have been on someone's trail and was then killed.

The inquiry at the Russian consulate general leads Brockmöller to Jevgeni Kossov. In a photo he recognizes the dead person as his partner Igor Ragov. He reports on an organized smugglers' gang that does a lot of business in Hamburg, mainly with the movement of cash. One of the main actors would be Nikita Gurganov, who used to work for the KGB . He and his colleague would have been sent to Hamburg to smash this ring.

When Stoever, looking for a new apartment, meets the realtor Lea Richter, he learns that she lives with the lawyer Reinhard Schwinger. This is currently under surveillance by her colleague Wenzel and his department, as he is suspected of trading cigarettes illegally on a large scale. Stoever already noticed the name during his visit to "Petrimex", as Schwinger is a partner in this company. This makes it clear to the investigators that their murder victim was on the trail of the smugglers and that they may have liquidated him. To prove this, they use their new colleague Lukas Thorwald to shadow Jevgeni Kossov. When he is looking around on a ship in the harbor, he gets into a firefight with Leonid Tschernych, an employee of Nikita Gurganov. Thorwald can arrest Tschernych. The civil servants also achieve their first success in their goal of breaking the smuggling ring.

Stoever celebrates the move into his new, comfortable apartment with his colleagues and the landlady Lea Richter, who also lives in the building. After the lavish meal, however, he drinks one vodka too much. The next morning he finds Lea Richter lying strangled on the floor, plus photos of him and his landlady in delicate poses. He immediately called Brockmöller, who immediately got in touch with Wenzel, who was still observing the house. The investigators found out that Nikita Gurganov was in the house in the middle of the night. Stoever wants to confront him and drives to the company "Petrimex", where he meets the wanted man, but cannot stop him. Gurganov is hiding in the company's storage area, where he also hides a weapon. He uses it to shoot Stoever and take him hostage. Brockmöller and Jevgeni Kossov follow Stoever and meanwhile besiege the area. They call the SEK for help when they realize that their colleague is in great danger. Kossov manages to outsmart Gurganov with a trick and Gurganov is arrested. Stoever had been talking to his hostage-taker the entire time, so he is sure he did not commit the two murders. That was his company partner Reinhard Schwinger, to whom Stoever presented a prepared confession and of which he is sure that he will sign it shortly. Stoever knows that Lea Richter is separating from Schwinger, but that he did not want to allow that at any price. For the murder of Igor Ragov, the investigators manage to identify two Schwinger truck drivers as the perpetrators with the help of the homeless man who had found the dead man.

Jevgeni Kossov flies back to St. Petersburg , since his job in Germany has now been completed with the smuggling gang .
