The Telugu script is an Abugida , which belongs to the South Indian Dravidian scripts.
It is used in India (federal states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana ) and is very closely related to the Kannada script , from which it differs mainly in its slimmer forms.
Similarities with other Indian scripts
As with all Indian scripts, every syllable has the inherent vowel "a" ( ka, kha, ga ...), which is changed to other vowels (' ki, khi, ghi' ...) with additional characters .
As with the other Indian scripts, the sounds are sorted according to phonetic criteria:
