Teodor Coman

Teodor Coman (born September 21, 1928 in Izvoru , Argeş district ; † 1996 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian politician of the Romanian Communist Party PMR (Partidul Muncitoresc Român) and from 1965 PCR (Partidul Comunist Român) , who worked between 1975 and 1978 Minister of the Interior and most recently Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan from 1986 to 1989 .

Life

Officer, youth and party functionary

Coman attended the General School of Izvoru from 1935 to 1942 and then between October 1942 and 1947 the Military Technical School No. 5 in Găeşti , before he graduated from the NCO School for Vehicle Technology in Piteşti from 1947 to January 1948 . In September 1947 he joined the Communist Youth Union UTC (Uniunea Tineretului Comunist) and continued his training at the NCOs for Vehicle Technology in Bucharest between January 1948 and April 1949. Then he was after his promotion to Unterleutnant (Sublocotenent) April 1949 and February 1950 platoon leader and most recently company commander at the military driving school in Găeşti. After retiring from military service as a lieutenant in the reserve in February 1950, he completed training as a dredger driver in Mircea Vodă between March and May 1950 .

He then worked from June 1950 to January 1951 as an excavator driver and secretary of the Organization of the Communist Union of Workers' Youth UTM (Uniunea Tineretului Muncitor) on the construction project on the Danube-Black Sea Canal . He was then instructor of the UTM committee on this construction project between January 1951 and 1953 and then from November 1953 and 1954 first secretary of the UTM city committee of Constanța . During this time he became a member of the Romanian Communist Party PMR (Partidul Muncitoresc Român) in August 1953 and was then instructor and secretary of the UTM committee in the Constanța district between 1954 and September 1955 .

After Coman had graduated from the Central School of the Komsomol in Moscow between September 1955 and December 1956 , he was first secretary of the UTM committee in the Constanța district from December 1956 to 1960 and, as such, also became a member of the office of the PMR party committee in January 1959 Circle. This was followed by a position as first deputy head of the Organization section from 1960 to 1965 and as secretary for organization of the Dobruja Region Party Committee between 1965 and 1968 . He then served from February 1968 to November 23, 1974 as First Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Executive Committee of the People's Council in Tulcea County .

Member of Parliament, Minister of the Interior and Ambassador

On August 12, 1969, Coman was also a member of the Central Committee (ZK) of the PCR, of which he was a member until December 16, 1987. In 1969 he also became a member of the Grand National Assembly (Marea Adunare Națională) for the first time , where he first represented the constituency of Frecăței , then between 1975 and 1980 the constituency of Orțișoara , from 1980 to 1985 the constituency of Zătreni and most recently between 1985 and 1989 the constituency of Sovata No. 10 .

Coman was first vice-interior minister between November 23, 1974 and March 22, 1975 and then took over the office of interior minister (Ministru de Interne) from Emil Bobu himself on March 22, 1975 . He held this office until September 5, 1978 and was then replaced by George Homoştean . In 1975 he also became a member of the Supreme Council for Economic and Social Development and, in his role as Minister of the Interior from November 11, 1975 to March 2, 1979, was also a member of the Defense Council of the Socialist Republic of Romania .

After resigning from the Council of Ministers, Coman became First Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Executive Committee of the People's Council in Vâlcea County on September 26, 1978 . On March 26, 1980 he also became a member of the Central Committee for Organizational Affairs of the party, the state of mass organizations and non-governmental organizations, and from March 29, 1980 he was also a member of the Committee of the Goßen National Assembly for the People's Councils and State Administration. He was also President of the People's Council Affairs Committee between April 11, 1984 and August 26, 1986. On 30 January 1985, he became secretary of the Central Election Commission and was last October 30, 1986 to May 3, 1989 Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan .
