The Teufelsbad is a nature reserve of around 60 hectares in the Schaumburg district of Lower Saxony . It borders directly on the eastern urban area of Bad Eilsen and is part of the Heeßer Berge . It is registered with the Lower Saxony State Office for Water Management, Coastal and Nature Conservation (NLWKN) under the registration number NSG HA 041 .

It is a deciduous forest area that is mainly composed of acidic beech forests . In the core area there is an approximately one hectare island of old wood. It consists of numerous standing and lying dead wood as well as brittle trees with rotten branches and hollows. Adjacent are "geoscientifically significant spring horizons with lime sinter terraces and accompanying alder - ash forests ".

The nature reserve is largely congruent with the FFH area of the same name .

history

By ordinance of October 10, 1975, the Teufelsbad was declared a nature reserve. The district of Schaumburg is responsible as the lower nature conservation authority.
