The Auf dem Knickbrink is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxon town of Rinteln in the Schaumburg district .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG HA 019 is 5.5  hectares in size. It has been under nature protection since November 15, 1949. In February 1969, the nature protection of several parcels in the south of the reserve was lifted. In this area is today u. a. the sports field of Krankenhagen. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Schaumburg.

The nature reserve is located within the Weser Uplands Schaumburg-Hameln nature park north of Krankenhagen , where it is directly connected to the residential buildings, and places a section of a Kames landscape on the southern edge of the Weser lowland under protection. In the protected area are neglected grassland - and Heather find ngesellschaften.

As the area became increasingly bushy, maintenance measures were carried out at the beginning of the 21st century. In order to prevent further encroachment , the area should be grazed with sheep .

archeology

In the area of ​​today's nature reserve, construction work was carried out in the 1930s on a thing site , where the National Socialists held midsummer celebrations . During the work, the prehistoric urn grave field on the Knickbrink from the pre-Roman Iron Age around the 5th century BC. Discovered. Several excavations followed in the following decades.
