The King's Man: The Beginning (Original title: The King's Man ) is a British - American agent film directed by Matthew Vaughn . It is a prequel to both previous parts of the Kingsman film series, which is loosely based on the comic series of the same name drawn by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar . The film is scheduled to hit German cinemas on February 25, 2021.

In June 2018, Matthew Vaughn announced a prequel to the films he produced, Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) and Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017). He stated that the film would be about the founding of the fictional, secret Kingsman organization at the beginning of the 20th century .

Filming began in the UK on January 22nd, 2019. In April 2019, scenes were filmed in Turin and Venaria Reale . The film's original cinematographer, Ben Davis , has since had to abandon the project due to his work on The Eternals .

Marketing and theatrical release

The first trailer for The King's Man: The Beginning was released on July 15, 2019, the second on September 28, 2019, and the third final trailer on June 21, 2020.

The film was originally supposed to be released on February 14, 2020, but was then postponed to September 17, 2020. The reason for this was, among other things, the re-shooting of Gemma Arterton's role "Polly" and possibly other roles. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , it had to be postponed again, this time to February 25, 2021.
