The Masterplan is an album compilation from B-sides by the British music group Oasis . The album was released in November 1998.

description

The album was originally only supposed to be released in distant markets like America, where it is usually very expensive to import singles and the B-sides contained on them. Acquiesce was released as a single in America.

The Masterplan went platinum in England and sold over two million copies worldwide.

The album's unofficial successor, Stop the Clocks , was released on November 20, 2006. Contrary to previous statements by Noel Gallagher - "The only thing we've got that might be in the pipeline next year will be another B-sides album" (The only thing that we possibly plan for next year will be another B-side album. Album ) - a best-of collection has been released. The complete track list was kept secret for a long time and was only announced on September 11th.

The album

production

Listen Up and I Am the Walrus have been changed from their original versions on the Cigarettes & Alcohol single. In Listen Up a part of the guitar solo is missing and I Am the Walrus was shortened from 8:14 to 6:25 minutes.

Notes on individual songs

I am the walrus

On The Masterplan , the correct location of I Am the Walrus was given in the footnotes for the first time . The information on the Cigarettes - & - Alcohol single reads: Glasgow Cathouse, June 1994. Noel admitted in an interview that the song was recorded during the sound check of a performance at a Sony Music seminar in Gleneagles in February. Noel cited the reason for these false statements that "'recorded at a Sony seminar [would] look shit".

Rockin 'chair

Chris Griffiths was thanked for his part in the lyrics. When it was released on the single Roll with It in 1995, Noel Gallagher was listed as the sole songwriter.
