The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 1 (also HYYH Pt. 1 , Hangeul : 화양연화 pt.1, Hanja : 花樣 年華, revised Romanization : Hwayangyeonhwa pt.1 ) is the third EP by the South Korean boy group BTS , which was released on April 29, 2015 via Big Hit Entertainment . The album contains nine songs, including the singles I NEED U and Dope (쩔어). Two different physical versions (white and pink) have been released. HYYH Pt. 1 i st the first part of The Most Beautiful Moment in Life trilogy.
Background and advertising
The EP was announced on April 6, 2015. The press release announced that all seven members of the group were involved in the songwriting process. On April 17th, the animated comeback trailer 花樣 年華 by group member Suga was released . On April 19th, the concept photos of the "Pink Version" and two days later those of the "White Version" were uploaded to Twitter. An official album snippet was released with the track listing on April 26th. The two songs "Boyz with Fun" and "Converse High," had already been presented to the audience on the 2015 BTS Live Trilogy Episode I: BTS Begins tour in Seoul on March 29th. The concept photos for the second single "Dope (쩔어)" were released on June 14th.
On April 29, before the EP was released, there was a live stream on the V App under the motto "BTS 'I NEED U, BTS ON AIR' OnAir", in which the members celebrated the release of their new EP.
Music videos
The music video for I NEED U was released at the same time as the album. It turned out that the original video, which was rated 19 and showing boys with difficult youth , had been edited to lower the rating from 19 to 15. On May 10, the original uncut version was released with a longer playing time and scenes that are marked with violence.
On June 23, Big Hit Entertainment released the music video for "Dope (쩔어)" on YouTube . Each of the members is disguised to represent different professions, e.g. B. a police officer or a racing driver.

Commercial win
Dope became the group's first music video to hit the 100 million mark. This made BTS the first group outside the Big3 ( SM , JYP and YG ) to reach this milestone.
On May 5th, 2015, the group first came on a music show when they won I NEED U on "The Show". In total, they received five trophies with the song. I NEED U debuted at number 5 on the weekly Gaon Charts with 93,790 downloads and has been downloaded a total of 850,000 times.
The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 1 debuted at number 2 and reached number one on the weekly GAON album charts a week later . In May 2015 the EP reached number 2 on the monthly album charts. In China, BTS debuted at number 1 on the weekly Weibo charts and was able to keep the position for two weeks. The EP debuted at number 24 on the weekly ORICON charts and number 45 on the monthly ORICON charts in Japan.
The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 1 was the 6th best-selling album of the year in Korea, with 203,664 copies sold.
Six songs landed on Billboard's World Digital Songs Charts: I NEED U (No. 4), Dope (No. 11), Hold Me Tight (No. 12), Boyz With Fun (No. 13), Converse High (No. 15) and Outro: Love Is Not Over (25th place). On July 11th, Dope reached third place on the charts after the promotions. The EP debuted at number 2 on the Billboards World Digital Albums chart , number 6 on the Heatseekers chart and number 20 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart - the group's first chart entry.
The EP was the only Korean work to land at number 24 of the 27 Best Albums of 2015 So Far - a critically-made list for Fuse .
