Theodor Hans Joseph Alexander Teetzmann (born October 18, 1859 in Jersleben , † January 16, 1930 in Blankenburg (Harz) ) was a Prussian officer , most recently a lieutenant general .

Life

After visiting the Cadet Corps in 1875, Teetzmann joined the 3rd Westphalian Infantry Regiment No. 16 of the Prussian Army in Cologne as a second lieutenant . On January 27, 1893 he was promoted to captain and on April 18, 1903 to major and as such battalion commander in the fusilier regiment "Queen Victoria of Sweden" (Pomeranian) No. 34 . In 1908 he was appointed commander of the Anklam War School . Promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 22, 1910 , in January 1913 he became commander of the infantry regiment "Graf Werder" (4th Rheinisches) No. 30 in Saarlouis .

Appointed Colonel on January 27, 1913 , after the outbreak of the First World War he moved to the Western Front at the head of his regiment in August 1914 and fought his first engagement at the Battle of Longwy . On September 30, 1914 he was appointed commander of the 29th Infantry Brigade and a few weeks later (on October 28, 1914) he was appointed brigade commander of the 43rd Reserve Division in Flanders . At the end of January 1915, Colonel Teetzmann was appointed commander of the 86th Infantry Brigade and promoted to major general on October 14, 1916 . He was then given command of the 34th Division , which also included his old 30th Infantry Regiment.

According to the AKO , Major General Teetzmann received the highest award in Prussia for bravery , the order Pour le Mérite, on October 11, 1917 .

After the armistice, Teetzmann led his division back home and in the spring of 1919 took over the leadership of the General Command of the XVI. Army Corps in Blankenburg (Harz). With dissolution of the old army handed Teetzmann in his resignation, which on September 30, 1919 under presentation of the character as a lieutenant general was approved.

Teetzmann died on January 16, 1930 in Blankenburg, where he had taken up residence.
