Thilo von Linsingen

Thilo Burckhardt Wolff von Linsingen (born October 1, 1862 in Mainz , † November 22, 1943 ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Thilo came from the noble and noble family of Linsingen . He was the son of Major General Heimart von Linsingen (1818–1894) and his first wife Marie Luise Therese, née Maurer (1824–1868).

Military career

On April 16, 1881, Linsingen was transferred from the cadet corps as a second lieutenant to the Oldenburg Infantry Regiment No. 91 of the Prussian Army in Oldenburg . From March 1 to July 31, 1887, he was posted to the military gymnasium in Berlin . He was a battalion adjutant from October 1, 1887 to September 30, 1891. During this period he was promoted to prime lieutenant on April 17, 1890 , and on March 22, 1891 , he took up the post of prime lieutenant. He was adjutant of his regiment from October 15, 1892. On March 27, 1894, he was commanded as adjutant of the 42nd Infantry Brigade to Frankfurt am Main . On November 15, 1894, Linsingen was promoted to captain and kept in command of the 1st Hessian Infantry Regiment No. 81 , which was subordinate to the brigade .

On May 20, 1897, Linsingen was released from his command and transferred to the 2nd Hanseatic Infantry Regiment No. 76 in Hamburg . There he was appointed chief of the 4th Company in the 1st Battalion. From April 12 to May 16, 1899 he was assigned to attend a training course at the infantry shooting school in Spandau . On his return he was appointed chief of the 6th Company in the 2nd Battalion.

Linsingen was a legal knight of the Order of St. John .

family

He met on January 3, 1897 in Hanover with Therese, née von Arentschildt (1869-1908), a daughter of the Prussian Lieutenant General Wilhelm von Arentschildt (1840-1911). The daughter Paula Cäcilie Hedwig Luise Anna-Therese (born November 17, 1897) and the son Wilhelm Waldvogell Viktor Vollrat Alexander Hans-Heinrat (born December 5, 1899) emerged from the marriage.

In 1910 Linsingen married Else von Schulzen (born February 21, 1874), a daughter of the former district administrator Cuno von Schulzen .
