Thomas Klinger (photographer)

Thomas Klinger (* 1951 ) is a German photographer and graphic artist .

Life

Thomas Klinger is the son of the painter Will Klinger-Franken and brother of the sculptor and ceramist Eva Klinger-Römhild . He trained as a photographer and graphic artist with Will McBride and Willy Fleckhaus . Since 1980 he has been teaching photography at the German School of Journalism in Munich .

As a freelance photographer, he has been working for many magazines such as Stern and SZ-Magazin for decades . In addition, he designed around 20 books with his photographs, including the bestselling photo book Body Language with the world-famous pantomime Samy Molcho . For his book publications he has received awards from the Art Directors Club New York and several Kodak photo book awards. The Munich City Museum and the Photo Gallery in Zurich honored his work with solo exhibitions. In his photo studio in Berchtesgaden , he opened the exhibition Poesie des Lichts on November 29, 2015 with works by the “Klinger family of artists”.

Thomas Klinger is married to Kriemhild Buhl and lives in Ramsau near Berchtesgaden .
