Thomas Rühmann (born May 11, 1955 in Osterburg (Altmark) ) is a German actor and musician . He became known throughout Germany as Dr. Roland Heilmann in the ARD series In all friendship .

Life

Rühmann was born in Osterburg as the son of the headmaster and regional historian Heinrich Rühmann, who a. a. dealt with the history of the Altmark. He is not related to Heinz Rühmann . Thomas Rühmann has one brother and five sisters. When he was five years old, the family moved to Magdeburg . Rühmann studied at the journalism section of the Karl Marx University in Leipzig . Taken to a theater performance by a friend, he took on a role in Volker Braun's Sonnenstaat , because the actor Ulrich Mühe was unable to attend. He then played another role, this time in a play by Athol Fugard . He then completed an actor training at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin . From 1982 he was seen in various roles at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin .

Rühmann made his television debut in 1983 in Martin Luther . Since 1998 he has played the leading role of Dr. Roland Heilmann in the doctor series In all friendship . Together with Tobias Morgenstern , he has been running the Theater am Rand in the village of Zollbrücke im Oderbruch since 1998 . The specialty of this small theater with 200 seats is that the visitors only pay their entrance fee after the end of the performance. The viewer determines the amount paid.

Occasionally Rühmann works as a musician in the Martin Rühmann Band , which his brother Martin Rühmann leads. From 2011 Rühmann appeared as a singer and guitarist together with the guitarist Rainer Rohloff; they played compositions by Neil Young with texts by Gerhard Gundermann . In 2014 the Falsche Lieder tour began with Rohloff, Peter Schlenderlein (piano), Lexa Thomas (bass) and Gören Eggert (drums), in which Rühmann interpreted texts by Hans-Eckardt Wenzel .

Rühmann lives in Leipzig and has a second marriage. He has two daughters from his first marriage and a son from his second marriage.
