Thorsten Lensing
Thorsten Lensing (* 1969 in Coesfeld ) is a German theater director.
Lensing's productions have been created since 1994 as freelance productions in co-productions with deSingel Antwerp , Volksbühne Berlin, Forum Free Theater (FFT) Düsseldorf, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus , Schauspiel Frankfurt , TAK Theater Liechtenstein , Theater im Pumpenhaus Münster , Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen , Staatstheater Stuttgart , Festspiele Zurich and Schauspielhaus Zürich .
Thorsten Lensing worked closely with the dramaturge Jan Hein from 1998 to 2011. From 2003 to 2011 Lensing and Hein formed a directing duo. He founded the T1 Theater with Birgit Lengers in 1996; she accompanied his work initially as a dramaturge and until 2004 as a producer.
Lensing he worked with Jasna Fritzi Bauer , Sebastian Blomberg , Alexander Fehling , Miriam Goldschmidt , Matthias Habich , Maria Hofstätter , Charly Hübner , André Jung , Peter Kern , Peter Kurth , Ursina Lardi , Josef Ostendorf , Heiko Pinkowski , Lars Rudolph , Ernst Stötzner , Devid Striesow , Katharina Schüttler and the musicians Jean Paul Bourelly , Phil Minton and Willi Kellers , the cultural journalist Dirk Pilz and the set designer Johannes Schütz.
For his play Karamazov , Lensing received the Friedrich-Luft-Preis of the Berliner Morgenpost for the best Berlin or Potsdam theater performance in 2014 .
After Karamazov , the premiere of Infinite Fun, based on the novel of the same name by David Foster Wallace, followed in February 2018 . The Süddeutsche Zeitung described the performance as “the most beautiful thing one has seen in the theater for a long time.” This production was invited to the 2019 Theatertreffen in Berlin.
The Tages-Anzeiger counted Thorsten Lensing among the "20 greatest theater people of the 21st century" in German-speaking theater.
