The Thranenbruch nature reserve is located in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate and is part of the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park .

The approximately 30  hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1985 , extends southwest of Hüttgeswasen , a residential area in the local community of Allenbach . The district road  49 runs along the eastern edge of the area , further east runs the B 269 . The Thranenbach has its source in the area, a source stream of the Traunbach .

The protection purpose is the preservation of the wetland with its water and moor areas as the location of numerous endangered plants and plant communities.
