Threshold (English for. " Threshold ") is the sixth studio album of the Swedish power metal band Hammerfall . In the band's home country of Sweden, the group's sixth studio album went straight to the top of the album charts.

background

The recordings for the album were similar to those for the previous album Chapter V. Only the songwriting was described by Joacim Cans as "a little slower and a little more hard work". The first single, Natural High , was released at the end of September, including a karaoke version of the title track, a version of The Fire Burns Forever with Robert Kronberg , the accompanying music video and a live version of Raise the Hammer .

The album was released on October 18, 2006 by Nuclear Blast in Sweden and two days later in Europe . Threshold was released in France and Great Britain on October 23, 2006, and in the USA on October 31, 2006.

Song info

The Fire Burns Forever was actually written specifically to promote the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 2006 , but it still found its way onto the album. The song was presented by the band together with hurdler Robert Kronberg during the opening ceremony.

The song Natural High , which is about a vampire , was, according to Joacim Cans, next to The Fire Burns Forever, the only candidate for a single release. It doesn't have the typical chorus and hookline of the earlier Hammerfall singles, but it's still up-tempo and “high on energy”. The selection of the song should show that the band is back, but also brought something new to the fans. The video for the single was shot with a Serbian production team that had also worked with Blind Guardian . In it, Hector , the knight who acts as Hammerfall's mascot, fights a group of vampires. Cans describes the video as the Hammerfall version of Blade . However, while the hero in the film destroys vampires with a sword, Hector uses a hammer .

Howlin 'with the' pac is about an evening with friends, while Genocide thematizes the disappearance of heavy metal in the 1990s due to new styles such as grunge .

Carved In Stone existed a long time before the album but never made it to a previous one. This also applies to Reign Of The Hammer , an instrumental piece that was written by Stefan Elmgren in the mid-1990s. Shortly before the recordings for the album, he discovered a demo tape with the song, which can now be heard in a slightly different form on Threshold.
