geography
location
The Tiefenrother Höhe rises in the southwest of the Rothaargebirge on the northwest border of the Lahn-Dill-Bergland nature park and on the border of the Siegen-Wittgenstein district in the northwest to the Lahn-Dill district in the southeast. Counter- clockwise looking at it is between Gern village in the north, rowing village in the northwest and Wilgersdorf in the West, all at Wilnsdorf include in Westphalia, and Fellerdilln in the south-southeast and dill Brecht in the east-southeast, both to Haiger count in central Hesse. Its summit is located 1.7 km east of the center of Wilgersdorf in the Wilgersdorf district and 2 km west-north-west of the center of Dillbach; the Westphalian-Hessian border is 65 m northeast of the summit. The landscape leads over the northeastern Gernsbacher Höhe ( 540.6 m ) to the Haincher Höhe ( 609 m ) on the other side . There are three wind turbines in the transition area between Tiefenrotherhöhe and Gernsbacher Höhe.
Natural allocation
The Tiefenrother Höhe belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Süderbergland (No. 33) in the main unit Rothaargebirge (with Hochsauerland ) (333) and in the subunit Dill-Lahn-Eder source area (333.0) to the natural area Kalteiche (with Haincher Höhe) (333.00) . Directly to the west, in the main unit Siegerland (331) and in the subunit Nordsiegerländer Bergland (331.0), there is the natural area Südliches Siegener Bergland (331.04).
Mountain height
The height of the 552.3 m high Tiefenrother Höhe is sometimes only given as about 551 m , which, however, refers to a trigonometric point at 551.0 m, which is about 75 m northeast of its summit. The topographic maps also show an altitude of 550.8 m about 50 m southwest of the summit .
Lahn-Sieg watershed and flowing waters
The Lahn - Sieg -Wasserscheide runs over the Tiefenrother Höhe : on its north flank the Klingelseifen rises as a tributary of the Wahlbach , which swells on the west flank and whose water reaches the Rhine through the Bichelbach , the Weiß flowing west of the mountain and through Wilgersdorf and through the Sieg . The water of the east extending from the mountain black Bach (Schwarzenbach) reaches the at Dill Brecht Dill and flows through the Lahn in the Rhine.
Traffic and walking
Since 1915, the Tiefenrother Höhe has been crossed by the Dill line ( Siegen - Gießen railway line ) as part of the Rudersdorfer Tunnel . The tunnel runs about 220 m northeast of its summit in a northwest-southeast direction through the elevation and is 2,652 m long. The Rothaarsteig runs over the summit and tunnel as one of several hiking trails on site. Roads only run through the towns around the elevation, such as Rudersdorf , Wilgersdorf and Dillbrecht .
Opportunities for viewing
On June 1, 2008, on the north-west slope of the Tiefenrother Höhe near the summit on the Wilgersdorf side, the nose in the wind viewing platform, which had been in existence since January, was inaugurated; it is at the end of a short branch path from Rothaarsteig. From the platform, which is only 1.5 m high, you can see the Siegerland natural area - for example, to Kindelsberg ( 618.1 m ) and towards Siegen . There is an information board on site with the inscription Panoramablick Tiefenrother Höhe and some location and sightseeing destinations.
Not from there, but from a point not far from a quarry near the platform, when visibility is good , the Große Feldberg im Taunus ( 881.5 m ), which is almost 69 km (as the crow flies ) south-southeast, is the highest mountain visible from there.
