Tiffany Renee Darwish (born October 2, 1971 in Norwalk , California ) is an American pop singer and actress . She became internationally known from the summer of 1987 with a few teen pop hits.

Career

With her debut single I Think We're Alone Now , Tiffany made her breakthrough in the summer of 1987 at the age of almost 16. The song, written by Ritchie Cordell, had been a top 4 hit in the US for Tommy James & the Shondells 20 years earlier . Tiffany pop version reached both in the US and in the UK No. 1 on the charts.

The second single Could've Been , written by Lois Blaisch, was also a big hit, again reaching number 1 in the US and number 4 in the UK. Her debut album Tiffany also topped the US charts, reaching four-times platinum and threw another top 10 hit with I Saw Him Standing There , a cover version of the Beatles song I Saw Her Standing There .

But already the second album Hold an Old Friend's Hand , released in autumn 1988, could not continue the flight. The single All This Time made it into the top 10 again, but the album itself did not sell well. When the third album New Inside completely flopped in the fall of 1990 , her career in the USA was over for the time being. From then on it was only able to hold its own on the Asian market.

It wasn't until the summer of 2000 that she returned with new releases and albums. Her comeback album The Color of Silence was highly rated by critics from Billboard Magazine and the Rolling Stones . The American music channel VH1 aired a program about Tiffany's life for the release of the album. In addition, a revealing photo series of her was published in the April 2002 issue of American Playboy . Tiffany's album Just Me was released in mid-2007 ; In parallel, she released the dance single Higher , which made it to number 19 on the Billboard Dance Charts and was her first Billboard success in around 18 years.

Her last studio album, Pieces of Me , was released in October 2018.

Television appearances

In 2005 she participated in the British show Hit Me Baby One More Time in part - the original format and in Germany at ProSieben broadcast comeback show - and won the first season to collect all the finals. There she had to admit defeat together with her competitors Shakin 'Stevens . She also took part in the US version of this show, but lost there in the first round against Arrested Development .

As an actress, she appeared in a few films and series episodes.

From January 28, 2018, she was a participant in the fourth season of the Australian reality show I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! . She was the only US participant of this season. After two candidates had already left the camp early, Tiffany was chosen as the first participant by the audience.
