Timo Achenbach (born September 3, 1982 in Witten ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach .

Career

The trained left full-back and midfielder began his career in Witten at TuS Heven . After moving to VfL Witten in the city in 1990 and playing there for three years, he spent the following three years in various youth teams at SG Wattenscheid 09 .

Before the start of the 1996/97 season, he moved to Borussia Dortmund when he was 14 years old , where he played throughout his youth. In the 2002/03 season he was a season regular player in the Dortmund amateur team in the Regionalliga Nord as a promoted league player.

He was loaned to the second division club VfB Lübeck for a fee of 30,000 euros in the subsequent 2003/04 season. There he became a regular player straight away, but was relegated to the regional league at the end of the season.

After a valid contract with Borussia Dortmund still existed, Achenbach was loaned out to Bundesliga relegated 1. FC Köln for 50,000 euros in the 2004/05 season. There he played half for the professional team, with whom he was promoted again, and for the amateur team in the Regionalliga Nord .

After the end of the season, Borussia Dortmund did not use its option to extend the contract. After completing the preparation for the season in Cologne and still playing in the first game of the amateur team, he moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for SpVgg Greuther Fürth shortly before the start of the 2005/06 professional season . His contract with Greuther Fürth ended at the end of the 2007/08 season .

In May 2008, Alemannia Aachen signed him for three years. In the 2008/09 season , Achenbach was one of the few players in the league who played all championship games over the full season. Timo Achenbach also defended his regular position under head coach Peter Hyballa , who was signed for the 2010/11 season . In the 2011/12 season he rose with Alemannia as the table penultimate from the second division. For the 2012/13 season , Achenbach moved to the second division club SV Sandhausen and signed a two-year contract that was later extended for another year.

In the summer of 2015 his engagement in Sandhausen ended, whereupon he signed a contract with the upper division KFC Uerdingen until 2018. In summer 2018 he switched to TuS Ennepetal to assist the trainer Alexander Thamm as a playing assistant trainer.

In the U-21 national team , Achenbach was used in three international matches, as well as once in the 2006 team , the perspective team of the DFB , which was dissolved in 2005 .
