Timothy Trust

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Timothy Trust (born January 17, 1971 in Berlin-Neukölln ) is a German magician , mental magician , ventriloquist , comedian , illusionist and moderator . He has been using this pseudonym since 2000 . He would like to omit his real name as much as possible.

Life and family

Timothy Trust was born as one of four children to a family of doctors and grew up in Berlin-Charlottenburg . His mother is a studied philosopher and doctor, his father is a practicing neurologist, psychiatrist and psychotherapist. He was born in a Berlin that was divided and marked by the Cold War. He experienced the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 up close; a formative event in his life that would later help to defend himself for democracy and against totalitarian states. During his school days he was particularly interested in ancient languages and the theater group.

Education

Immediately after graduating from high school in 1990, Timothy Trust began studying law at the Free University of Berlin . In 1995 he passed the first state examination in law with distinction. After passing the second legal state exam ( bar exam ) in 1997, he was admitted as a lawyer and began in a law firm in the Joachimsthalerstrasse in Berlin to work.

Even during his legal clerkship, he had doubts whether law and future work as a lawyer would become the focus of his life. Timothy Trust resigned admission to the bar in 2000 and decided to devote himself fully to the arts of entertainment and wizardry .

The beginnings in the entertainment business / first magic arts

Trust was interested in magic while he was still at school . He made his first paid appearance at the age of 15 on the children's birthday party of his German teacher at the time. As a result, he began to perform magic tricks at smaller company events. In 1990 Trust joined the Berlin Magic Circle. In the same year he met Martin Sierp there, who later became not only a friend but also a business partner. In 1991, Sascha Grammel joined the two circle members ; In 1992 they finally became the trio "DIE ZAUdERER". Major public appearances on theaters in Berlin and in town halls in Germany followed. The shows of star magician David Copperfield , who presented his shows in Berlin and throughout Germany in the 1990s, had a particularly motivating effect on Trust .

Career

THE ZAUdERER

"DIE ZAUdERER" were founded in 1992. The origin of the idea was the Magic Circle Berlin. First, Martin Sierp and Timothy Trust attended shows and magic seminars together and practiced tricks. Sascha Grammel joined in 1992. In the same year, the three were asked by the chairman of the Magical Circle Berlin (Dieter Michel, called Argola) to help shape the “Prix Juventa Magica” magic congress. So the three gave themselves a name: "DIE ZAUdERER" were born. Timothy Trust toured the town halls with the “DIE ZAUdERER” team - mostly on behalf of the local Volks- and Raiffeisenbanken. In 2007, Timothy Trust left the team as all three were moving in different directions. They are on friendly terms to this day.

Timothy Trust & Julie

In 2000 Timothy Trust met “Julie” by chance at a street festival in Berlin and decided to try out mental magic and grand illusions with her . In the same year they became "Timothy Trust & Julie" until Julie left the team in 2010 to devote herself entirely to yoga .

Abdul & Luigi

In the course of their friendship, Martin Sierp and Timothy Trust quickly discovered that they had a talent for slipping into strange characters . The movie " Knocking on Heaven's Door " released by the role of Moritz Bleibtreu the appropriate inspiration to found in 1997 the duo "Abdul and Luigi." Martin Sierp plays the Italian mafia boss “Luigi” and Timothy Trust plays the mafia colleague “Abdul”. The duo specialized in particular in observing specialist congresses as a “false guest” and summarizing them parodically at the end of the congress in a special show .

The highlight of “Abdul and Luigi” was the first place in the 2005 German Magic Championship in the “ Disqualification ” category . Although the jury rated the performance as terrific, the duo was disqualified. It took them twice as long to perform as allowed. Despite the “Time Out”, the jury awarded the team first place in the “Disqualification” category, which was created spontaneously and especially for “Abdul & Luigi” at that moment. This was the first and only place in the division.

ventriloquism

Timothy Trust has mastered the art of ventriloquism . His ventriloquist dummy is an oversized frog.

PC Mutton Curry Spectacular The Great

In 2015 Trust took part in a month-long comedy seminar with the comedian Jango Edwards in Vienna and developed it into an Indian stage character who - more or less voluntarily - makes the audience laugh. “PC Mutton Curry Spectacular The Great” thus became an integral part of Timothy Trust's show and the highlight of the “Trust Me” show, which was presented in the GOP variety shows .

Timothy Trust & Diamond

Timothy Trust and Diamond have known each other since the World Championships of the Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques (FISM) in Stockholm in 2006, where he competed in various categories with the team "DIE ZAUdERER" and with Julie and won prizes. When Julie decided to take a different approach in 2010, Trust was made aware of Diamond by a fellow magician - Mario Schembri. After Timothy Trust Diamond contacted about this, they decided together to found the team "Timothy Trust & Diamond". Diamond was not unfamiliar with his own appearances in the magic scene at the time. She has won several prizes and has won the " Hans Klok Trophy" among others . The “Timothy Trust & Diamond” team still exists today. As stage illusionists, they reached 3rd place at the 2015 World Championships in Rimini.

Performances

Since the more than ten years of collaboration, Timothy Trust & Diamond have created numerous magic tricks, grand illusions and comedy performances: For the "Saber Illusion", Diamond steps into a cardboard box that Timothy Trust has apparently punctured with 16 solid sabers. At the end of the performance, Diamond climbs out of the box unharmed in a new dress and a big red flag in hand.

In the “Fallen Angel” illusion, Diamond is tied by the hand with a gas balloon and climbs onto a solid metal plate perforated with small holes, which acts as the lid of a large vase. Diamond is covered with a curtain and is instantly inside the vase; the cord to the gas balloon goes through the perforated metal plate.

Timothy Trust with partner Diamond at the mental magic performance - minds are read

During the “floating illusion” Timothy puts a ring around his partner's body, whereupon Diamond rises almost three feet vertically and floats in the air. Since January 2020, Timothy Trust & Diamond have been developing the “Vega Morph” performance, in which they conjure up a Vespa and person on the stage on the open stage. This performance pays homage to friends of the Timothy Trust, the magicians Ben Jayman & Vega.

Mental magic

The main feat of Timothy Trust & Diamond is what is known as "mind reading". Diamond stands on stage blindfolded and Timothy Trust lets the audience show him objects that Diamond guesses in every detail: names, birthdays, driver's license or ID card numbers, the battery level of a cell phone or the color number of a Dior lipstick. The highlight of the performance is that Diamond reads the mind of a viewer who is concentrating on the number of his banknote.
