The Norwegian Getaway is a cruise ship of the US shipping company Norwegian Cruise Line , which has its headquarters in Miami / Florida . The ship belongs to the breakaway class . Sister ship is the Norwegian Breakaway .
history
The ship was built as hull number S.692 by the Papenburg Meyer Werft . The first block was placed on October 30, 2012.
On March 5, 2013, a fire broke out in the building dock II on the Norwegian Getaway on deck 15 in the pool equipment room. Fire brigades from all over the area were involved in fighting the fire, and there were no injuries. The damage amounted to less than 500,000 euros. The delivery was not endangered.
After undocking on November 2, 2013, the ship was on 14/15 November 2013 transferred over the Ems to Eemshaven .
After the shipyard tests, Norwegian Getaway moored at Bremerhaven's Columbuskaje at the end of November 2013 to be fitted out there. On December 5, 2013, the ship sailed into the German Bight due to Hurricane Xaver in order not to be damaged in the port. The ship stayed at sea until the hurricane was over.
The ship was finally delivered in Bremerhaven on January 10, 2014 . On February 7, 2014, the ship was christened in Miami .
At the Olympic Games in 2016 , the ship served as a hotel ship in Rio de Janeiro .

In winter, Norwegian Getaway sails from Miami to the western Caribbean, in summer either the winter program or from Copenhagen in the Baltic Sea.
