The Norwegian Sun is a cruise ship of the Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) built at Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven .

construction

The hull of the ship was built on behalf of Lloyd-Werft Bremerhaven (construction no. 005) at Aker MTW Werft in Wismar. In September 2000 he was abducted to the Lloyd shipyard in Bremerhaven. This is where the completion, equipment and shipyard trials (stand trial) took place. At the end of July 2001, the cruiser was accepted in an extensive test drive by the classification society and the technical shipping company inspection and handed over to the Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) at the end of August. The steel weight of the hull is around 15,000 tons, and around 20,600 m² is available on the deck. Around 1,500 kilometers of cables were laid in the ship to generate and distribute electricity, also to supply the 25,000 lighting fixtures with electricity. Around 130 kilometers of pipelines were laid for the fuel supply, cooling water, drinking water and waste water supply. The Norwegian Sun cost around 650 million marks and offers space for 2,250 passengers.

In winter the Norwegian Sun sails between San Antonio in Chile and Buenos Aires in southern South America and Tierra del Fuego. In summer the ship sails from Port Canaveral to Cuba and the Bahamas.
