The Norwegian Breakaway is a cruise ship that was built for the US shipping company Norwegian Cruise Line based in Miami / Florida . The ship was handed over in April 2013 and initially used on cruises from Manhattan .
construction
The ship was built as a type ship of the Breakaway class under the construction number S.678 at the Meyer Werft in Papenburg . Construction began on September 21, 2011 with the first steel cut. The first of the 73 blocks was lifted into the shipyard's building dock II on May 4, 2012 as part of the keel laying . The ship was undocked from the construction dock on February 26, 2013. On March 13th, the Norwegian Breakaway left the shipyard and went to the Ems overpass; later it started from the Columbuskaje in Bremerhaven for a test drive in the North Sea.
The Norwegian Breakaway was up to the delivery of the Quantum of the Seas in October 2014, the largest ever built in Germany cruise ship. The ship is designed for around 4000 passengers and is equipped with 17 restaurants as well as 12 bars and lounges. Attractions include a water park, a high ropes course and a nine-hole golf course.
The hull painting on the bow comes from the Pop Art artist Peter Max .
The sister ship Norwegian Getaway was delivered on January 10, 2014.
operation area
The Norwegian Breakaway is traveling in winter from New York, New Orleans and Miami routes to the Caribbean. In the summer of 2018 she will sail from Copenhagen in the Baltic Sea.
