The Norwegian Escape is a cruise ship of Norwegian Cruise Line .

history

On October 17, 2012, Norwegian Cruise Line ordered a new ship from Meyer Werft in Papenburg. At the same time, a sister ship, the Norwegian Joy, was optioned. Construction began on March 20, 2014 with the cutting of the first steel plate, before the ship was laid down on September 19, 2014 . As part of Meyer Werft's construction strategy, a 120-meter-long section was undocked on December 5, 2014. A second section followed on February 21, 2015 to allow the Anthem of the Seas to undock . Then both sections were maneuvered into the free construction dock, where the shell was completed. The hull painting comes from the artist Guy Harvey . and was released in March 2015. The ship was undocked on August 15, 2015.

The Ems overpass towards Eemshaven began on September 18, 2015 . From October 13 to 15, 2015, the ship was docked in the Elbe 17 dry dock near Blohm and Voss in Hamburg, where adjustment work and a final inspection were carried out.

The delivery to Norwegian Cruise Line took place on October 22, 2015. On October 23, 2015, the ship set off for the premiere cruise from Hamburg, and on October 25 for the mini-cruise to Southampton.

After delivery, the ship was the fifth largest cruise ship, after the Oasis class and the Quantum class of Royal Caribbean International .

The ship was then transferred to Miami and used all year round on a 7-night route through the eastern Caribbean since November 14th.

The ship was christened on November 9, 2015 in Miami by the US rapper Pitbull .
