The Anthem of the Seas is a ship owned by Royal Caribbean International .

history

In February 2011, the Royal Caribbean International shipping company ordered the first Quantum class ship (“Project Sunshine”) from Meyer Werft . An option for another ship, the later Anthem of the Seas , was agreed. She was appointed on February 29, 2012. On August 2, 2013, construction of the ship began with the cutting of the first steel plate. On the same day, the sister ship Quantum of the Seas was laid down. The Anthem of the Seas was laid down on November 19, 2013. In the Anthem of the Seas for the first time the new design strategy of Meyer Werft has been applied. For this reason, a 120 meter long section was undocked on June 1, 2014. A second section was undocked on August 12, 2014. On August 13, 2014, after the Quantum of the Seas had undocked , both sections were maneuvered back into the construction dock. The final undocking took place on February 21, 2015. The Ems overpass took place on March 10th and 11th, 2015. From March 23 to 26, the ship was docked in Hamburg in the Elbe 17 dry dock , where final inspections of the underwater hull and adjustment work on the bow thrusters were carried out. The ship was delivered on April 10, 2015, five days earlier than contractually agreed. On April 20, 2015, the Anthem of the Seas was christened in Southampton by Emma Wilby , the maiden voyage began on April 22nd from Southampton, where the ship was stationed during the 2015 season.

Incidents in 2016

On the night of February 7-8, 2016, the ship between New York City and Port Canaveral was caught in a level 2 hurricane, which damaged cabins and public areas. Four people were slightly injured.
