history

The midship section that has meanwhile been undocked

The ship was commissioned as the fourth unit of the Quantum class on June 12, 2015 from Meyer Werft with hull number S.700. With the construction of the first section, starting to burn so-called, was started on 15 August 2017 and the first unit was on 8 November 2017 the Neptun shipyard in Rostock on down Kiel . This central section was transferred to the Meyer Werft in Papenburg in March 2018. On May 25, 2018, a 140-meter-long section was undocked and, after the AIDAnova had undocked , it was docked again on August 21, 2018. The ship left the building dock on February 25, 2019. After the transfer on the Ems on February 20/21. March 2019 and passed acceptance runs, the handover to the shipping company took place on April 11, 2019 at Bremerhaven's Columbuskaje . The christening took place on June 3, 2019 by the Chinese actor Xiaoming Huang and the model Angelababy in Shanghai .

On April 18, 2019, the 51-day maiden voyage to Shanghai began in Barcelona .

The Spectrum of the Seas has a total of 18 decks and offers space for 4,246 passengers in 2,137 cabins.

technology

The Spectrum of the Seas , like its sister ships , has an Air Lubrication System. This system reduces the friction between the surface of the water and the ship's hull by expelling air bubbles from the latter. The system should lead to lower fuel consumption.
