Tobias Geisser (born February 13, 1999 in Stans ) is a Swiss ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Washington Capitals in the National Hockey League since March 2018 and has been on loan from EV Zug in the National League , his training club, since December 2019 .

career

Geisser came  to the youth department of EV Zug via the EHC Engelberg-Titlis and Lucerne in 2012 . The Obwalden became a junior national player there and made  his debut in the National League A under coach Harold Kreis in the 2016/17 season . In the NHL Entry Draft 2017 , the Washington Capitals secured  the rights to the defender in the fourth selection round in a total of 120th place. In March 2018, the Capitals provided him with an entry-level contract . He then spent the 2018/19 season with the Capitals farm team , the Hershey Bears from the American Hockey League (AHL), before returning to EV Zug on loan after seven games in the 2019/20 season in December 2019.

Private

Geisser comes from a family of athletes: his mother played curling, his father ice hockey, his sister volleyball. He graduated from the Engelberg sports school .
