Dan Tangnes (born March 3, 1979 in Oslo ) is a former Norwegian ice hockey player and current coach . Since April 2018 he has been head coach at EV Zug in the Swiss National League .

career

Tangnes played in the offspring of Vålerenga IF and moved as a teenager to neighboring Sweden to continue his ice hockey training there with Rögle BK  . In the 1997/98 season, the Norwegian junior international posted first minutes of play in Rögles men's team in Sweden's third-highest division. In the 1999/2000 season he ran for the Swedish second division club Gislaveds SK, played in Lillehammer in his home country Norway in the 2000/01 season , before playing for the Swedish third division club Jonstorps IF until 2005.

As a trainer, Tangnes was initially active in the youth department of Rögle BK from 2005, in the 2006/07 season he was head coach of the Jonstorps IF team in the third Swedish league and then returned to Rögle BK, where he again trained in the youth division partly also worked as an assistant coach for the men's team. In November 2011 he took over the position of head coach at Rögles men's team in the second Swedish league ( HockeyAllsvenskan ) and led them to promotion to the first division in spring 2012. He held this position until January 2013, after which he was assistant trainer in Rögle. At the beginning of the 2013/14 season he was again briefly responsible as Rögles head coach, but was dismissed at the end of October 2013 after he had only scored 16 points in 15 games with his team.

Tangnes moved in 2014 as assistant coach to Linköping HC in the first Swedish league, at the beginning of the 2015/16 season he took over the head coaching position, which he held until the end of the 2017/18 season. The separation came about although he still had a contract that ran until 2020.

At the end of April 2018, he was introduced as the new head coach of EV Zug  and was supposed to drive “the implementation of the chosen strategy as an ambitious training club” for the Swiss national division . In his first year as a trainer in Zug, he led the team to runner-up and win the cup competition. After the end of the season he promised to make the Zug supporters proud and win the championship.
