Tomáš Kocian-Falkenbach (born March 27, 1988 in Bratislava ) is a German - Slovak volleyball player . The setter won two cups with VfB Friedrichshafen . Since 2018 he has been playing again with the SWD Powervolleys Düren , with which he reached the cup final in 2020.
Career
Kocian came to Germany from what was then Czechoslovakia at the age of three . His father, national player Milan Kocian , played for VC Eintracht Mendig from 1991 to 1999 . Tomas started his volleyball career at SSF Fortuna Bonn and later moved to Mendig as a player. In 2006 he took part in the European Championship with the Slovak national junior team. 2011 Mendig was champion of the second league south , but renounced promotion. Kocian was then signed by the first division club evivo Düren , who had already shown interest twice before, as the second setter. In 2013 he moved to league competitor TV Ingersoll Bühl .
After a season in Bühl, Kocian, who meanwhile also has German citizenship, returned to Düren in 2014. With the SWD Powervolleys he reached third place in the Bundesliga and the semi-finals in the DVV Cup in the 2014/15 season . He was then signed by the German champions VfB Friedrichshafen as a second setter. With the Häflern he was German runner- up in the 2015/16 season . The following season, Kocian won the DVV Cup final with VfB against the Berlin Recycling Volleys , but was defeated again by the same opponent in the playoff final for the German championship. Also in the 2017/18 season, Friedrichshafen (this time against TV Bühl ) won the DVV Cup . In the league, the team lost again in the final against Berlin. In the Champions League , VfB came with Kocian after two preliminary rounds this time in the second playoff round.
After three years at Lake Constance, Kocian moved again to the SWD Powervolleys Düren. With the team he reached the semifinals in the DVV Cup and the quarterfinals in the Bundesliga playoffs . In the DVV-Pokal 2019/20 he reached the final with the SWD Powervolleys, which the team lost to the Berlin Recycling Volleys . When the Bundesliga season was canceled shortly before the playoffs, Düren was in sixth place in the table. Kocian will also play for Düren in the 2020/21 season.
