In the first round, eight teams competed against each other in home and return matches. The winners met twelve seeded teams in the second round and there were home and away games again. The losers in the first two rounds continued to play in the CEV Cup . The eight winners of the second round qualified alongside twelve seeded teams for the group stage. In the group stage there were five groups with four teams each. Each team competed at home and away against each of the three opponents. There were three points for a 3-0 or 3-1 win, two for a 3-2 win and one point for a 3-2 defeat. The group winners and the best runners-up qualified for the playoffs. There they determined three participants for the Final Four in two rounds, each with home and away games . The host of the Final Four is the fourth participant to qualify directly after the group stage.
The first legs of Playoff 12 took place between March 13 and 14, 2018 and the second legs between March 20 and 22, 2018. The first legs of Playoff 6 took place between April 3 and 5, 2018 and the second legs between April 10 and 12, 2018.
At the Final Four on May 12 and 13 in Kazan played VC Zenit-Kazan , has been designated to host the CEV after the completion of the group matches, against the three qualified in the play-offs teams. In the final, Kazan won against Cucine Lube Civitanova and won his sixth title.
