Anthony Iob (born January 2, 1971 in Renfrew , Ontario ) is a former Italo - Canadian ice hockey player , who during his active career for the Kölner Haie in the German Ice Hockey League , the HC Devils Milano , Asiago Hockey , WSV Sterzing Broncos and HC Alleghe has played in Serie A1 as well as for the EC KAC and EC Graz 99ers in the Austrian ice hockey league .

Career

Anthony Iob began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League , where he played for the Kingston Raiders , Kingston Frontenacs and Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds was active. With the greyhounds he won the J. Ross Robertson Cup , the championship of the OHL, in 1991 and 1992 . During his time in the OHL, the attacker was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1991 in the ninth round as a total of 189 players by the Buffalo Sabers , for whom he never played. Instead, he spent the 1992/93 season with the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League and the Erie Panthers in the East Coast Hockey League . He then went to Europe, where he got a contract with HC Devils Milano . For the Lombards he played for two years in the Italian Serie A , then another year and a half at HC Milano 24 . In the course of the 1996/97 season , Iob was committed by the Kölner Haien from the German Ice Hockey League .

For the Kölner Haie, Iob was on the ice in the DEL for a year and a half before he returned to Italy, where he signed for a season with Asiago Hockey . He started the 1999/2000 season at Wiener EV in the Austrian Ice Hockey League , before finishing it with the Phoenix Mustangs from the West Coast Hockey League , with whom he won the WCHL championship, the Taylor Cup . In the decisive playoffs, he contributed eight goals and nine assists in ten games. This was followed by two seasons in Italy for the left-handed shooter, where he completed the 2001/02 season with the San Diego Gulls in the WCHL. From 2003 to 2007 the Italian international was under contract with the EC KAC in Austria, with whom he won the national championship in the 2003/04 season . In the spring of 2007 Anthony Iob was under contract for eight play-off games at EHC Visp in the Swiss National League B. He scored ten scorer points in eight games and reached the play-off final with EHC Visp, which was only lost just in the seventh and decisive game against EHC Biel . The winger most recently played for EC Graz 99ers in Austria from 2007 to 2009 , finishing the 2007/08 season at HC Alleghe in Italy.

International

For Italy , Iob took part in the B World Cup in 2003 , as well as the A World Championships in 1997 , 1998 and 2001 . Furthermore, he was in Italy's squad at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin .
