action
Tony is increasingly plagued by the fear that someone in the family might find out about his therapy. However, because he has feelings for Dr. Melfi begins to develop that go beyond the normal doctor-patient relationship, he has no intentions to end the therapy. The episode begins with a nightmare in Melfi's practice. He hires the corrupt plainclothes policeman Vin Makazian, who is on his payroll, to find out more about Melfi's private life. He mistakenly mistook her for Tony's lover and brutally beats her male companion during a vehicle inspection. Because of his growing feelings for Dr. Melfi finally makes Tony stop going to therapy. Paradoxically, Carmela persuades him, mistakenly believing that the therapist is male, not to discontinue therapy, otherwise their marriage would be in danger.
After a few remarks from his classmates and their sometimes submissive behavior towards him, AJ begins to critically question his father's professional life. After hints from his sister Meadow, it gradually dawns on him what his father really does professionally.
Christopher is scared to death after his mock execution and the murder of his friend Brendan. He believes Tony found out he was selling Meadow drugs and is now seeking revenge on him. But his worries are unfounded, and when he finds out that Mikey Palmice is his friend's killer, he in turn seeks revenge. But Tony can stop his nephew from rash actions against Junior Soprano's crew and holds back the angry Christopher. Mikey is a full member of the Mafia and therefore initially inviolable. Tony beats up Mikey and tortures him with a stapler. Instead, Tony confronts Junior why he took such extreme measures. Junior is not aware of any guilt and both part in an argument.
Meanwhile, Jackie Aprile has lost the battle with cancer and leaves a power vacuum after his death . Although all captains of the family stand behind Tony and support his rise to the reigning boss, Tony fears the impending power struggle with Junior for the successor. After an unconscious inspiration during a therapy session with Dr. Melfi comes Tony a diplomatic solution. On the face of it, he's making Uncle Junior the new boss and just pretending to be giving him power. Behind the scenes, supported by the other captains, he pulls the strings and is the real strong man in the family. With this move, Tony avoids a war with Juniors crew, which would be bad for business. Also, as the acting boss, Junior is the main target for the FBI. After making this decision, Tony decides to continue to go to therapy.
