The 46th Tour de l'Avenir took place from September 5th to 13th, 2009. The bike race was held in nine stages over a distance of 1,292.5 kilometers. It is part of the UCI Europe Tour 2009 and the Men's Cycling Nations Cup (U23) , in which only national teams with riders of the U23 class are allowed to start.
