Breaking Up With Obstacles (original title: The Break-Up ) is a 2006 tragic comedy directed by Peyton Reed with Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn in the lead roles.

action

Gary Grobowski, a Chicago tourist bus tour guide of Polish descent, meets Brooke Meyers, who works at Marilyn Dean's art gallery, while attending a baseball game, and they begin a relationship.

When their families meet for a meal together, an argument breaks out. Gary was supposed to get twelve lemons, but he only brought Brooke three. The supposed trifle reveals numerous problems in the relationship between the two that have not yet been openly addressed. During the meal it also becomes clear how different the two families are. When Gary Brooke criticized everyone in front of everyone for not being allowed to put a pool table in the apartment furnished according to the rules of Feng Shui and for avoiding washing up after eating, a crisis broke out. Neither Gary nor Brooke want to apologize first. After numerous mutual accusations about deficits in their relationship, Brooke ends it in the hope that Gary will come to his senses and through the loss realizes that he has to change. However, the shot backfires: The fronts are becoming increasingly hardened, but neither of them wants to leave their shared apartment.

After further arguments, they finally split up and the apartment they have bought and furnished together is sold through a befriended broker. One day after their breakup, Gary and Brooke meet again by chance on the street. They promise to see each other more often in the future.
