The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Trinity is located in Holzengel , a district of the community of Großenehrich in the Kyffhäuserkreis in Thuringia . The parish Holzengel belongs to the parish area Greußen of the parish Greußen-Großenehrich in the parish of Bad Frankenhausen-Sondershausen of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The Baroque hall church is 1750/53 with three axes instead of July 19, 1749 by a fire after a strike of lightning destroyed the previous building of rubble have been rebuilt. The church tower from the 14th century in the west with a rectangular floor plan has been preserved . It received a slate-covered , hipped gable roof . There is the clock face of the tower clock . Inside the two are yokes with cross vaults spans. The yokes open to the nave with high, pointed arcades . The nave is covered with a mansard hipped roof. The interior is covered with a wooden barrel vault. The windows are rectangular and arranged on two floors . On the south side, symmetrically between the two window axes, are the ground-level entrance and the two-flight covered staircase to the galleries .

The church furnishings come from the construction time. The pews from the 18th century are arranged in two blocks. The ceiling painting with geometric ornaments and angels with banners was created in the first half of the 20th century.

The organ with 15 registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal , was built in 1844 by Julius Strobel .
