description
Vegetative characteristics
The Tripogandra species are annual or perennial herbaceous plants that grow erect or prostrate and rarely climb. Tubers are not formed. The alternately arranged leaves are ovate, narrowly ovate, elongated, lanceolate or sometimes linear.
Generative characteristics
The inflorescence is paired bifacially. The combined wraps are not carried by a visible bract, but by a common stem. Paired wraps are tufted individually or in various ways.
The hermaphrodite flowers are zygomorphic and threefold. Your three sepals are not fused together. The three white or pink petals are also not fused together. There are two circles with three stamens each; they are twofold. Those of the outer circle are mostly fertile and shorter, their stamens are bald or bearded and the connective narrow. The stamens of the inner circle are longer, fertile or staminodial , their stamens are curved and stand upright in front of the front of the upper petals. They are bald or bearded differently and the connective is different. The ovary is dreifächrig and each compartment contains two ovules .
The fruits are capsule fruits . The seeds have a punctiform to linear hilum and a dorsal embryo .
