Zhoushan
Zhoushan ( Chinese 舟山 市 , Pinyin Zhōushān Shì ), formerly: Tschu-san , Tschouschan , is a district-free city in the southeast Chinese province of Zhejiang . Zhoushan is - along with Sansha and the cities of Haikou and Sanya on the island of Hainan - one of four prefecture-level cities in China that are exclusively on islands. The Zhoushan Islands are located east of Hangzhou Bay in northeast Zhejiang and near Shanghai . In 2016, 1,158,000 people lived in an area of 1,440 square kilometers.

There are several shipyards on the Zhoushan Islands with dry dock capacities for ships up to 300 m in length.
fishing
Zhoushan is the largest fishing area in China. The four best-known marine animals that are caught in Zhoushan, which are yellow croaker , the Big Yellow fish , the octopus and the band fish .
traffic
There are several ports in Zhoushan, including Dinghai, Shenjiamen, Gaoting and Sijiao. From there there are connections mainly to Shanghai , Ningbo , Wenzhou and Fuzhou . There is a civil airport on Zhujiajian Island and a military airport on Daishan. In 2009, a bridge was opened to connect Zhoushan Island with Ningbo City on the mainland.

energy
Between 1984 and 1987, the first HVDC transmission system in China was laid between Ningbo and Zhoushan , consisting of 42 km of overhead lines and 12 km of submarine cables . The operating voltage of the system is 100 kV, the maximum transmission capacity 100 MW. A 220 kV overhead line leading to the island uses the tallest high voltage pylons in the world.
