description

The wooded castle site between the forest fields of Schlossleiten in the north and Schlossholz in the south is located at around 460  m above sea level. NN height in a corner of an agricultural clearing. It is located a few meters above the valley floor on the slightly descending northern slope of a small valley sloping to the west-northwest, which rises and ends a little east of the castle to the Jura plateau Auf der Öd.

The well-preserved, rectangular tower hill with rounded corners measures 25 × 15 meters at its base and still reaches a height of three meters. Its plateau is heavily ransacked, the whereabouts of finds of medieval ceramic fragments from robbery excavations is unknown today. A ring trench eight meters wide and 0.5 meters deep runs around the tower hill . On the valley side in the south of the facility, an outer wall is placed in front of this ditch as an additional approach obstacle. The wall is broken only at the southwest corner by a drain of a small channel.
