The Enzenrieth Castle (often called Schlösschen Enzenrieth ) is a castle in the Enzenrieth district of the Upper Palatinate municipality of Pirk .

history

Before 1143 the bishopric of Bamberg was wealthy here. Then the Bamberg Bishop Egilbert gave the Prädium ( praedium Enzenriuz ) to the monastery here , located within the Luher Königsforstes. In 1334 Konrad dem Lengfelder was given a farm in Enzenrieth for life by the Waldsassen monastery . In the 14th century (1358) Enzenrieth was the seat of the Siger who called themselves to Enzenrieth . In 1438 Heinrich the Siger donated his seat and his goods to Enzenrieth to the monastery Kastl for a perpetual mass in the local St. George's Chapel . The bailiwick over Hochdorf (today also a district of Pirk) and Seibertshof was given to Stephan Pertholczhofer zu Fronhof in 1419 and Ruprecht der Wolfringer in 1427 . In 1446 the abbot Johann von Kloster Kastl transferred the bailiwick of his property in Enzenrieth to the landgrave Leopold (with the exception of the lower and the higher jurisdiction ). At that time Enzenrieth was part of the Leuchtenberg district judge. The Kastl monastery was abolished in the course of the Reformation in 1560/1563 and the Hofmark Enzenrieth was placed under the administration of an administrator from the Electoral Palatinate . In 1636 it was handed over to the Jesuit order . In 1773 Enzenrieth became an electoral judge after the Jesuit order was abolished. In 1782 it was given to the Order of Malta ; the coming of the Order of Malta included the Hofmark Enzenrieth and the Hofmark Heumaden. The owners of the Kommende were from 1782 Philipp Graf von Lamberg , then Christian Leopold von Thurn und Taxis and from 1798 Frater Freiherr Sebastian von Donnersberg . In 1809 there were no more patrimonial courts in the court brands Enzenrieth and Hochdorf, which were merged into a Johanniter Coming , since the Order of St. John had been repealed in Bavaria since 1808 and its assets had been confiscated by the state. In 1819 court jurisdiction came to the regional court of the older order Vohenstrauss. The last owner of the Kommende, Baron Sebastian von Donnersberg , was assigned the natural enjoyment from the two court stamps as a pension. In 1838 Enzenrieth came from the Regional Court of Vohenstrauß to the First Class Weiden court, in 1862 it came to the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district , with effect from January 1, 1972, Enzenrieth was incorporated into Pirk.

Construction

It is believed that a tower hill castle was built here in the High Middle Ages . In the 20th century, the former fortification had a moat surrounding it, which was protected by a wall. A former bridge over the moat has come off.

The current building with its hipped roof was rebuilt after its destruction on November 17, 1631 by the imperial colonel Heinrich von Holk during the Thirty Years' War on the previous foundation walls. The building can be found in the basement of rubble shaped vault . According to a directory from 1784, written by the magistrate Johann Christoph Sperl, there is talk of building repairs. A report from Count Lamberg of May 15, 1786 to the Munich Court Chamber shows that the castle was used by its administrator as an official residence and by himself as lodging during his annual inspection . For the forester Conrad Oedbauer , who lived in the castle, he applied for the construction of his own house, which was approved for him on August 21, 1786, if he provided the reason for an eighth Gütel. The Enzenriether defended themselves against it because there were already enough innkeepers here who would feed their cattle at the expense of the farms and if the house were once empty, it would become a "refuge for poor and bad people to everybody's defeat"

The Bartl Graßenbauer has the former Hofmarkschloss that of the state administration as a "costly dilapidated and in conversation castle" was designated in 1825 with the economy and outbuildings to 503 fl used auctioned by the state (house no. 11 of Enzenrieth) and as a guest economy. The personnel of the coming, namely the administrator Silbermann and the substitute administrator Linhard Igl were retired, the Commendeförster Oedbauer was employed as the royal forest warden , the Commendegistrate Greßmann as the court usher .

According to the original cadastre from 1840, the Schlössl stands on a large plot of land known as the "grass, tree and root garden, the castle garden". Around 1907 it came into the possession of Johann Stahl , who was allowed to run a beer with a schnapps tavern here. In a description from 1923 it says: “The whole complex in the ... Enzenrieth is very nicely preserved. The current tavern and former castle stands on a high, square hill, which is separated from the adjacent ridge by a deep ditch. A drawbridge used to lead across. The moat was fed by a pond that washed around the other two sides, so that the whole complex was certainly quite solid. ”On the eastern side there is a Christ monogram from Jesuit times. Before the Second World War, the building was renovated and in the 50s of the 20th century an annex was added and it was painted red and brown. After 2000 the moat became a parking lot and a pergola was built in front of the building. The inn is still owned by the Stahl family .
