The old Floß care castle was probably the seat of the Lords of Floß . Later it was used as a maintenance palace, forest office building, school and town hall.

history

The history of the house is linked to the Lords of Floß . On the house there is a coat of arms of the Herren von Floß from 1614. In this one could also see a silver or black horseshoe in a blue or silver field with a lily as the coat of arms of the Herren von Floß. This led to the assumption that the house was the original seat of the Lords of Floß , who at the beginning of their appearance were regarded as the Ministeriale of the Counts of Sulzbach .

The first demonstrable is a Tageo by Nieder-Flozzen (= Deinhard von NIederfloß), who, according to a tradition book of the Berchtesgaden Abbey, donates a predium (= estate) to the monastery. Also as Gebhard III. von Sulzbach hands over his salt spring to this monastery, an Ingrammus de flozzen appears as a witness. Other bearers of this family's name were Oudalricus de Flozze , Pertolt de Friderichsflose and Rodbertus de Flozzen . When Count Heinrich von Ortenburg confirmed a donation to the Holy Cross Monastery in Regensburg on January 4, 1250 , a witness u. a. Gotfridus pincerna de Vlozze up, so the cupbearer Gottfried up. This is also mentioned in a confirmation document about the patronage right of the parish of Schwarzhofen . He is mentioned again on January 5, 1261 when he was donated to the Waldsassen monastery . The title of cupbearer indicates a court office that he had to perform at Flossenbürg Castle . Another member of this family is Rudigerus Teurer von flos , as is Johan von flos , Landschreiber zu Amberg , recorded on August 27, 1481. On July 17, 1483 he is Teidinger (= arbitrator) for the Electoral Palatinate . From 1491 to 1498 Hans von Floß was rentmaster in Weiden . In 1530 a Conrad von Floß is named as judge to Floß, nurse to Flossenbürg and as Landsasse von Püchersreuth , his sons were Hans Gabriel (1584), Paulus , Landrichter zu Parkstein , and Hans Erhard (1587). In 1598 Paulus and Hans Gabriel still own the Hofmark Püchersreuth and the Mohrenstein Castle . This year there is talk of the sale of Püchersreuth to Ladislaus Popel von Lobkowitz , in 1627 Samson von Floß sells half of his estate in Püchersreuth to Bernhard von Gravenreuth , caretaker to Floß. With this, this family disappears from the Upper Palatinate.

The building was used as a maintenance palace and forestry office building. The keeper von Floß had his office first in the castle Flossenbürg , then in the Meierhof zu Flossenbürg , in the Friedrichsburg von Vohenstrauß and finally in the old castle von Floß. In 1773 there was talk of repairs to the Floß nursing and forester's house. At that time the caretaker and forester was Conrad Sebastian von Hözendorff , stonemasonry and masonry work was necessary, a registry and office were set up and the files that were previously stored in the princely new building were brought here and bound together in packs. In 1777 the government sent a civil engineer to inspect all buildings, who also had to check the cost estimates for the removal of defects. At that time there was a well and a "Schopfen where the Saliter Siederey used to be" in the courtyard of the old nursing home , and there was also a "pump well" that required new stone dishes.

In 1817 the house came to the municipality of Floß and was called the "Simultanschulhaus", but was also used as the town hall.
