Tyler Kennedy (born July 15, 1986 in Sault Ste. Marie , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 606 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins , San Jose Sharks , New York Islanders and New Jersey between 2002 and 2016 Devils has played in the National Hockey League on the position of the center . The greatest achievement of his career was winning the Stanley Cup with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009.
Career
The six-foot-tall center began his career with Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the Canadian Junior League OHL before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft as 99th in the fourth round by the Penguins .
The right-shooter spent two more seasons with the Greyhounds and then played for the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins , the farm team of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the American Hockey League . Kennedy made his first NHL appearance on October 27, 2007 against the Montreal Canadiens , and scored his first goal in the highest North American professional league six days later in a game against the New York Islanders . In the same season, the center forward was appointed to the Eastern Conference team at the NHL YoungStars Game , but Kennedy had to cancel his participation because of Pfeiffer's glandular fever . With the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Canadian then reached the final of the Stanley Cup , the North American ice hockey championship, but this was lost 2: 4 games against the Detroit Red Wings . A year later, however, the Penguins retaliated and won the decisive seventh game in Detroit 2-1
In late June 2013 he was transferred to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a second-round suffrage in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft . There, Kennedy was regularly used in the NHL, before he was handed over to the New York Islanders in March 2015 for a seven-round vote in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft . It was also agreed that the seventh should become a third-round vote for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft if the Islanders win the Stanley Cup and Kennedy is used in at least half of the games in the final series. This case did not subsequently occur.
After the 2014/15 season, Kennedy did not get a new contract in New York and was initially looking for a new employer. He found this in November 2015 in the New Jersey Devils , who signed him until the end of the season. After remaining without a club from the summer of 2016 until the beginning of January 2017, he announced his retirement from active sport on January 3, 2017 at the age of 30.
