The uhlandstraße is a stop of the Hamburg subway - U3 in the district Hohenfelde .
Structure and location
The Uhlandstraße station is a high station. It is located on the south side of the eponymous street. There is also access to the two 120 meter long side platforms via fixed stairs. The northern part is spanned by a station hall. To the south, the station crosses Güntherstrasse, and since 2018 there has been an access option with 2 elevators to the platforms. On the east side of the station there is a corridor under the vault between Güntherstrasse and the station entrance on Uhlandstrasse.
history
The line with the station was built in 1911. In March 1912, operations could begin on the then ring line of the elevated railway . The platform was extended several times in a southerly direction. Its current length of around 120 meters was necessary for the operation of the U2 line, which also ran here between 1973 and 2009 with long trains (8- / 9-car trains). Since 2009, Uhlandstrasse has been served by the U3 line again in ring mode, with trains only 80 meters long.
In the summer of 2011 - after almost 100 years of operation - the underground traffic was completely shut down for a few months due to reconstruction work in the Uhlandstrasse area. During this time, the bridge over Güntherstrasse was replaced and the station was completely renovated.
The station has been barrier-free since June 5, 2018. Two elevators connect the platforms with Güntherstraße, the platforms have also been raised and a tactile guidance system for the visually impaired has been installed.
additional
The station abbreviation of the operating company Hamburger Hochbahn is "UH". The two neighboring stations Lübecker Straße and Mundsburg are each about 600 meters away.
For a number of years, the station has also been served by the Hochbahn bus routes 172 and 173 on the journey to its terminus at Mundsburger Brücke (only in this direction).
