On his second patrol went UC 2 on 2 July 1915 at the sea area off Great Yarmouth in position 52 ° 28 ' N , 1 ° 48' O lost. The submerged boat was rammed by the steamship Cottingham and then searched with trawls . At about 9:40 p.m., a mine laid by UC 2 exploded . The following day, the wreck of the boat was discovered by a British diver. It remained unclear whether UC 2 was only sunk by the Cottingham ramming or had previously run into its own mine and was already destroyed. When UC 2 went down , the entire 15-man crew died. During its two outings, the boat had been unsuccessful.
