The German submarine U 25 was a submarine of the Bundeswehr and belonged to the submarine class 206 .

history

The submarine was built by HDW Kiel. His keel was laid on July 1, 1971. The launch took place on May 25, 1973, the commissioning on June 14, 1974. Like all submarines of the German Navy, the submarine was stationed in Eckernförde. It belonged to the 3rd submarine squadron. On August 29, 1988, the type 206 boat was converted to the submarine class 206 Alpha.

Whereabouts

The submarine was decommissioned on January 31, 2008 after 34 years of service. The WTD 71 then provided it with a lifting / lowering device and used it for blast tests in 2011. It was finally lifted on January 18, 2012. In June 2019, Vebeg offered it for scrapping in an auction. Private individuals were not allowed to bid. On July 15, 2019, it was announced that the submarine had been auctioned to a scrapping company for EUR 400,000. The boat must be completely demilitarized and scrapped in an EU country or in Turkey.
