U 23 ( NATO designation S 172) was a submarine of the submarine class 206 of the German Navy and was put into service on May 2, 1975 and was subordinate to the 3rd submarine squadron. From August 1987 to September 1989, it was converted to class 206 A. Like all submarines, it then belonged to the 1st submarine squadron of the operational flotilla 1 .

history

The boat covered a total of 180,376.7 nautical miles by 2005, of which 68,289.0 nautical miles were submerged.

The two pictures show U 23 on June 19, 2006 on the occasion of the Kiel Week in the Kiel Fjord on the way to the Tirpitzhafen . On March 31, 2011, U 23 was officially decommissioned.

Since August 28, 2012, "ex-U23" has been serving the Navy of Colombia as ARC Intrépido (S-21) . In 2015, the submarine will also be used in the Gulf of Urabá to combat drug smuggling.
